Understanding DCKAP Integrator – Technical FAQs

What do you mean by an integration project?

An integration project is a single entity composed of applications that a company needs to integrate (ERP, eCommerce, CRM), through the entire integration flow and setup.

What do you mean by a system?

A system is a single software or a single instance of a software. There are multiple instances of software in various environments depending on their processes.

What is an API Call?

If DCKAP Integrator is a bridge between two applications, API (Application Processing Interface) acts as the gateway for each of the applications, for it to communicate with an external system or environment. For any CRUD (Create, Read, Update, Delete) operation that should be performed on the system from an external entity (external application, in case of system integration), the systems’ API needs to be called before data can be transferred.

What are data records?

A record is an entity that can be a customer/order or anything that is ready to flow between the integrated systems. This can be anything in the CRUD (Create, Read, Update, Delete) process.

What do you mean by pipes?

A pipe is a separate module or data point that is managed within a system. E.g. Customers, Orders, Inventory, and Pricing are all different pipes. Configuring pipes means integrating similar pipes and transferring data between the two systems that you wish to integrate.

What do you mean by mapping and modifiers?

Mapping is defining which data field in system A pipe A should connect with which data field in system B pipe B for data transfer. For example, the customer name field in eCommerce should be connected with the corresponding customer name field in ERP.

Modifiers are the actual logic based on which you need all of your data to be processed before transfer. For example, First Name and Last Name field values in Ecommerce should concatenate before passing on to the Customer Name field value in ERP.

What do you mean by Flow Builder?

A flow builder is an intuitive feature in DCKAP Integrator that helps you to set up the complete flow of your integration, in terms of when the APIs should be called, what pipes should be included, along with the data mapping and modifiers that should be executed, and when the data transfer should happen (on a schedule or in real-time). Using DCKAP Integrator flow builder, you can easily set up your integration flows, with a simple drag-and-drop feature, and without any developer support (Since our team will set up the entire integration for you and deliver it to you).

What are sub accounts and user access levels within the DCKAP Integrator?

Sub accounts consist of the number of users you want to provide access to the DCKAP Integrator dashboard. User access levels indicate which integration modules each and every user has access to in DCKAP Integrator. You can customize user access for every user and module level.

Can you give an example of how projects and systems can be grouped for integration?

A client has an ERP and eCommerce platform, each in both the development environment and production environment. There are four systems in this case. Grouping systems into projects depends on your requirements. Here, in this case, you can either have one project with two integrations (one for dev instances and one for production instances) or two different projects, each having integrated systems under development and production environments respectively.

What is the difference between real-time integration and automatic scheduling?

Real-time integration implies data synchronization between the integrated systems as soon as the data gets created, modified, or deleted in one of the systems. This is especially important in scenarios such as inventory data updation between systems where the systems should reflect accurate real-time stock levels.

Automatic scheduling is the feature that lets you set up schedules (time) and frequency for data sync between systems. Unlike real-time integration, the data transfer between systems happens on a set schedule.

What are the minimum threshold, parallel processing, and failure record reprocessing?

The minimum threshold is the maximum frequency duration (depending on the plan you subscribe to) between which you can set up data to transfer between the integrated systems.

Parallel processing enables multiple users to execute data transfers they had separately set up or multiple pipes to communicate data simultaneously, instead of one after the other, helping you save data transfer time and speed up the process.

Failure record reprocessing indicates the number of reattempts DCKAP Integrator will make in case a data transfer fails (depending on your DCKAP Integrator plan).

What are logs debugging?

Logs are records of each transaction or interaction between two systems in detail. DCKAP Integrator has a salient feature of debugging logs in detail in case of a transfer failure, enabling you to troubleshoot exactly in which step the transaction failed, and how you can rectify the same.
