DCKAP (Chennai, Anna Nagar branch) conducted a Blood Donation Camp in association with the Indian Red Cross Society, to mark its 07th Anniversary. This camp was organized exclusively for the employees of DCKAP Technologies on 30th May, 2012 and the Chief Guest of this event was Mr.Karthik Chidambaram, CEO of DCKAP Technologies. This social awareness camp was one of its kind, since an IT company conducted it. A spokesperson said that such an event will create awareness about the social responsibility of any corporate.
This laudable gesture by DCKAP does not just create awareness amongst the masses but also saves life to a very great extent. Blood is always a much needed commodity which is converted into business nowadays. But by coming forward with such noble initiatives, DCKAP sets itself an example of offering without expecting returns.
Statistics show that one in three people in the world will need blood in some point of time. But the saddest part is that the number of people donating blood is exponentially low.
This initiative by DCKAP brought forward around one third of its employees to donate blood. The doctors and technicians who helped the camp to be a success also appreciated the camp and DCKAP’s contribution towards this noble cause.
Being an educated faction, the employees of DCKAP understood the importance of donating blood with no qualms. They were more than willing to be a part of this project and employees who were eligible for donating blood volunteered. Significance of Blood donation was also pointed out by the enthusiastic employees when national TV channels arrived at DCKAP’s premises. Human Body consists of 5 litres of blood approximately and only 350ml (appx) is taken during the process of donation.
The withdrawn blood volume is restored within 24 hours and the haemoglobin and cell components are restored in 2 months. Therefore it is safe to donate blood once in every three months. The employees participated in this event were encouraged with certificates and donor cards. DCKAP hopes that this initiative may lead many other organizations to come forward with such contributions.
At this point of time, we feel immensely happy to express our feeling of gratitude towards all the donors, volunteers and organizers whose tremendous effort made this a remarkable event in the history of DCKAP.
